Recommendation

This item was brought forward from Ald. Pieper and Ald. C. Payne.  Due to recent vehicle crashes at the intersection of Summit Ave. & Washington Ave., concerned citizens have requested a study determine if some changes can be made to the traffic control at the intersection.

Staff has concluded the engineering crash study of this intersection and will present the findings to the Buildings & Grounds committee at the October 5, 2020 meeting.  The Department of Public Works does not have any particular recommendation right now.  However, the title of this item is to request installation of an All-Way stop.  The warrant to install an All-Way stop is not met for this intersection and is not recommended to be implemented.  Staff will present some options to improve safety and the committee can discuss.
