Recommendation
Referral was made by Public Works. As a part of the design for the W. Main Street project, engineering staff had reviewed the intersection of W. Main Street & Gaspar Street. Our study had concluded that drivers had a hard time turning from northbound Gaspar Street to W. Main Street and often got caught in the intersection. There are sharp vision restrictions due to the parked cars W. Main Street in close proximity to the intersection. Pedestrians also have a hard time crossing W. Main Street. As many as 300 pedestrians, during a 12 hour period, cross at this intersection. Some pedestrians have to wait long periods of time to cross and some have been observed running across the intersection to avoid vehicles. In order to keep a balance with vehicular flow and pedestrian flows, public works is recommending an All-Way stop to be installed.
