Recommendation

Staff has reviewed this request by the Tower Hill Neighborhood group to install “slow down” speed awareness signs in the terrace on Madison Street.  This group has conducted similar campaigns in 2014 and in May 2015.  Staff recommends approval of the campaign in September 2015 subject to the following conditions:

The Tower Hill Group will be responsible for placement of the signs in the terrace and removal of the signs after the two week period.

The group should also insure that the signs are not given to others that are not in the Tower Hill area as to keep the signs from popping up all over the City.  The group may keep the signs displayed on their private property behind the sidewalk.

The group shall conduct all activity safely and in coordination with the City police department.

Recommended Motion:  Move to approve a speed awareness campaign to allow yard type signs in the terrace area on Madison St. from Moreland Blvd. to North St. starting August 29, 2015 and concluding on September 12, 2015
