Staff has conducted an initial review of this item. The nature of this request is to have a crosswalk installed on Racine Avenue near Springbrook South and leading into Minooka Park. Racine Avenue at, this location is CTH Y and is under the jurisdiction of Waukesha County. Waukesha County would have to approve any crosswalk on Racine. Additionally, there is no existing sidewalk infrastructure available on Racine or Sunset Drive to accommodate a crosswalk. It is unadvisable to install a crosswalk when there is not proper ADA ramps and sidewalks (or paths) leading to a point of destination. Currently, Sunset Drive, from Racine Ave to Minooka Park is under the jurisdiction of the Town of Waukesha and they would have to approve any sidewalk connectors. Staff recommends no action on this item.
