Title: Please approve the installation of parking stall pavement markings on the street and in non-restricted parking locations on the east side of Oakland Avenue, the south side of E. Broadway and west side of N. Greenfield Avenue adjacent to Buchner Park.

Recommendation

This item was brought forward by Ald. Moltzan.  In June 2021, the newly remodeled Buchner Pool opened and it has been observed that parked vehicles are parking illegally and there should be more order to the parking.  This item is a request to officially mark parking stalls with paint on Oakland Avenue, E. Broadway and on N. Greenfield Avenue on the sides of the street adjacent to the park.  Staff has reviewed this item and see an issue with the marked stalls other than increased future maintenance.  Staff does not have a recommendation at this time and will defer to the Committee to discuss the item.

 

The cost for installing the pavement marking will be around $500 if done by the City Garage.  Since it is too late to have markings done in 2021, if approved, the marking for these stalls would be done in 2022 and before June 1, 2022.  Funding for the paint for this item would come out of the 2022 Building and Grounds Sign and Materials Budget (3310.54140).
