Title: Convert the east on-street parking space in front of 112/114 W. Broadway to a handicap parking space.
Sponsors: Roger Patton
Recommendation

Engineering staff has reviewed this request for a Handicap Parking stall in front of the businesses at 214 W. Broadway.  Currently there are 4 angled parking stalls available.  One of the existing stalls is a No Parking Taxi Stand for the western most stall.  In order to have a legal handicap parking stall, two of the existing eastern most stalls will be required to convert to 1 handicap stall.  That leaves only one regular parking stall left.  In order to have a legal handicap stall, a ramp will need to be placed in the sidewalk area on the east side of the eastern most stall.  If this item is approved, the handicap ramp can be installed with 2015 CBG grant funds.  The total cost of the ramp is expected to be $1,000 and the sign + marking will be around $100.  Staff does not have any issue with approving the handicap stall, however, it may need to wait until spring 2015 to get the ramp and markings down.  If the committee considers approval, staff recommends that the taxi stand designation be removed and returned to a regular parking stall.

At this time, staff recommends no action be taken on this item.
