Recommendation
Engineering staff has reviewed this location for the installation of a crosswalk on Manhattan Drive. Data was collected and some research was done on whether a crosswalk should be installed.
A request was made at the August 18, 2014 meeting to inquire if the planning department would talk to the developer (Woodman's) to see if they can pay for the crosswalk upgrades or attach the upgrades to the out-lots when they develop. The planning department and Mayor have both responded to the committee. The planning department has stated that the developer is not responsible for the crosswalk improvements because it was not part of the original developer's agreement. However, Woodman's did indicate they would offer to pay for half of crosswalk improvements. See the letters from Planning and the Mayor.
Staff is not in favor of installing a crosswalk at this location and recommends no action on this item.
