Recommendation
Engineering staff has reviewed this request from Hadfield Elementary school to restrict traffic movements on Linden Street for safety purposes. Engineering staff has reviewed the proposal and discussed the flow of traffic during school pick up and endorses the request to restrict westbound traffic on Linden Street during school pick up. Linden Street would be blocked off for westbound traffic at Oakland Avenue by means of a barricade and sign that says DO NOT ENTER. This barricade and sign would be the responsibility of Hadfield Elementary and they would deploy the barricade and sign at 3:00 pm and will remove the barricade at 4:00 pm.
At the previous Buildings & Grounds meeting, this item was discussed. However, the committee members wanted the school to contact residents on the north side of Linden Street to make them aware of the proposal and any concerns that they have. Representatives were to attend the August 18 Buildings & Grounds meeting to report their findings.
Staff recommends approval of this item based on the school completing its task to inform neighbors on Linden Street and reporting back to the committee.
Recommended Motion: Move to allow Hadfield Elementary School to restrict westbound traffic on Linden Street from Bell St. to Oakland Ave., on school days, between 3:00 to 4:00 PM.
