Public Works has reviewed this request. It should be noted that a painted crosswalk does exist today on Motor Avenue on the west leg of intersection with Mountain Avenue. The request, as stated above, is requesting the south leg of the intersection to also have a painted crosswalk and for each of the two crosswalks to have the proper pedestrian crossing signing. The existing handicap ramps for the cross walks are not that old and will meet current ADA conditions. If this item is approved, the cost will be for installing signing and pavement marking. The Public Works department does not particularly approve of this crosswalk installation, however, the handicap ramps are already exist and the proposal would be to install warning signs and marking enhancements of an existing condition and, therefore, we would support the committee if they chose to approve it.
