Recommendation
This item is part of an overall evaluation of school zone parking signing adjacent to the Prairie Elementary School. Ald. Manion, the Public Works Department, City Police Department and Prairie Elementary School have been working on this item for some time. The PD and School have issues with parent drop off and pick up and are seeking some changes to signing along School Drive and along Center Road. There are no less than 4 different parking zones with different times on School and on Center Road. All parties met and decided on setting a uniform school time for the No Parking (9 AM to 3 PM) and to have it only be during the school year (Sept 1 to June 15) with the exception of the west side of Center Road which will be in affect all year. By request, a letter has been sent to all residents in the adjacent to the proposed parking changes to inform them of the changes and the Buildings & Grounds meeting time and place. Public Works has no issues with the proposed changes and recommends approval.
