Recommendation
This item was brought forward by Ald. Johnson in response to resident request to have a painted / enhances crosswalk from the apartments across Big Bend Road to the west side where there is a bus shelter. In order to construct this improvement, the appropriate signing and a crosswalk marking would need to be installed. Existing handicap accessible ramps are there. Engineering staff has reviewed the crossing in the field and determined that enhancements with signing and marking would be acceptable and the vision of the driver to the pedestrian is not blocked by the hill. The total cost to install signing and marking for the pedestrian crossing would be around $400.
