House of Guinness has applied for a special event and closure permit under Mun. Code §6.17 and §6.18 for closure of a portion of Municipal Lot 3, the Clinton Street lot, adjacent to the House of Guinness, for their annual St. Patrick’s Day event. Mun. Code §6.17(7) requires Building and Grounds Committee approval if the application is for closure of a public parking lot, and that approval is what’s before the Committee. The specific stalls that will be occupied are the 4 spaces directly behind the House of Guinness and the 12 adjoining spaces located in the Clinton Street parking lot. The event has been held in Lot 3 for many years without problems. If the Committee approves the application, the Clerk’s office will issue the permit. No City Departments have objected to the application, and all recommend approval.
